{The Sounds of Silence}

With the recent wild success of The Artist, silent film seems to be turning heads once more. And so it seems a fitting time to share again our collaborative silent film series based on the comical misadventures of the modern tramp, Willie Jones. Being we’re in the thick of winter in Minneapolis, our proof of concept episode feels like the right fit. Enjoy our slapstick romp through a very white MSP. Dig into more episodes at the series website.

{A Bike About Art}

There are some things in this world that were meant to meet, co-mingle, and become something greater than the sum of their parts. I believe we can now add Art and Bikes to that magical list. Myself and my colleagues at Bolster were fortunate enough to team up with bike poster phenomenon ARTCRANK and Trek Bikes to create a visual story that documented an extremely unique collaboration: creating the world’s first bike about art. Enjoy!

{Moments: A Look Back}

Looking back at one’s work can remind you of all the joys and challenges you’ve faced – and in this case – it’s my way of saying thank you to the universe for allowing me to do what I love every day and for sending me projects that keep me excited to be making and sharing these visual stories that bring us closer to new people, places and ideas. These are my favorite moments of the many I’ve been so fortunate to have shared.

{Beginnings}

On February 17, 2011, there was Ivy Claire Billings and no one was ever the same. Including yours truly, now able to called the much sought after title of, “Uncle Jesse.”

{SXSW}

I’m thrilled to announce that the documentary project I began more than 5 years ago and has taken me to the beautiful city of Ghent, Belgium to spend time with two of the most fascinating people I have ever met will finally be having its world premiere at the prestigious South by Southwest Film Festival this March. It’s been a long and supremely rewording journey for myself and my co-director Jonathan Nowak and we are absolutely ready to share this labor of love with the world. I’m continually inspired by the films subjects, Godfried Willem-Raes and Moniek Darge of the Logos Foundation. They bring a profound sense of playful innovation to everything they create and have an amazing story to tell. Enjoy the trailer and we’ll keep you posted on future screenings of the full 21 minute film. Enjoy!

{Insalata Caprese}

After touring film festivals around North America and being broadcast on MNTV, my short film love poem, INSALATA CAPRESE  (2009) has found a new home online. Starring Matthew Amendt, Val Mudek and Barbara June Patterson, this 12 minute film is a lyrical meditation on one of life’s greatest questions; What if? Enjoy this little love story, which is also a love letter to the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market and a simple, authentic way of living.

To fully enjoy the cinematic experience we hope to convey, please sit back, let the film load completely and play in full screen.

{Snowday}

Our Boston Terrier JB’s ‘hakuna matata’ take on last weekend’s winter storm may have inspired this relaxing look at what many in Minneapolis were calling Snowmaggedon, Snowpocalypse or Snowvelation. Whatever you call it, it made for a beautiful if grounding weekend here in the Twin Cities. Enjoy a lazy look at the storm.

{Midnight Minneapolis: Car Mount Test}

Delicious Filmworks is currently in pre-production on a new documentary, thanks in large part to a very generous grant from the Jerome Foundation. As part of that project we’ll be spending a lot of time traversing Minneapolis by car and were looking for a new way to translate that visually. These are just some early tests with the new car mount I’ve picked up, which is working like a charm with the 5D Mark II. Stay tuned for more about the new film which will go into production later this fall.

{Exit Glacier Guides}

I had a blast creating this video for Exit Glacier Guides of Seward, Alaska. Our aim was to get at the heart of the experience they provide – and in an authentic yet visually breathtaking manner. We’ve been doing a lot of this visual style of Brand Storytelling at Bolster Creative for clients like Otto Bock and Sprint and locally for Victory 44 among others – and we’re enjoying every minute of it.

{NYC F.FWD}

Some fun with the new intervalometer. These will be part of a larger timelapse project but wanted to share a teaser now.

{North Shore}

From Two Harbors up to Split Rock Lighthouse – Lake Superior made us feel welcome and almost at peace with not living anywhere near an ocean.

{Haute Cuisine For All}

I wanted to share this profile piece I created for chef Erick Harcey of Victory 44. Go visit them now – amazing food, amazing concept and free adult beverage with food purchase when you mention this video until the end of June.

{Minnesota Morels}

Deep in the springtime forests of Minnesota, treasure hunts happen every day – for rare seasonal delicacies. Here’s your invitation to one of them with a cast of foragers called the Minnesota Mycological Society.

{Plunge}

Many brave souls took a plunge into a still frozen Lake Calhoun to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota this March. This is Sarah’s story.
